You are already doing the work — teaching, assisting, and caring for children with special needs every day. Adding your master's and New York State certification should not mean quitting your job or turning your life upside down. This program was built so it doesn't.
You don't have to wait for graduation day to advance. After your first semester, you can work as a special education teacher with a Transitional B certificate — or after your first year, with the Internship Certificate. The choice is yours. When you graduate, New York State certification — Students with Disabilities (All Grades, PreK–12), automatic for New York students upon program completion — opens the full range of work: ICT co-teaching, SETSS and resource room, SEIT for preschoolers, and independent SETSS (P3) cases through agencies.
Major T.E.A.M. tuition savings applied automatically to the normal Adelphi rate — saving thousands for each student. The full program is $23,800 total, compared with the $44,500 normal Adelphi rate — and you pay as you go, semester by semester.
A bachelor's degree is required to begin the master's. No bachelor's yet? See our B.A. Completion program.
Yes. The Adelphi Special Education master's through T.E.A.M. was designed for working women: classes meet just one evening a week — Mondays, 5:30–8:30 PM ET — live on Zoom, so there is no commute and no need to leave your job. Most students keep working in their classrooms throughout the program.
Fully online. All classes meet on Zoom on Monday evenings, and the program runs in a separate women's cohort with students from across the country.
The program includes a short early-summer session (Summer 1, ending before July 1) — and there are no classes at all during July and August, so your summer stays yours.
Yes. After your first semester, you can work as a special education teacher with a Transitional B certificate, or after your first year with the Internship Certificate — the choice is yours. You do not have to wait for graduation to move into certified special education work.
New cohorts begin in January and in September, and the program runs on a two-year flow. It leads to New York State Students with Disabilities (All Grades, PreK–12) certification — automatic for New York students upon program completion.
